At Wollaton House Day Nursery we believe that it is important for parents and staff to work closely together. We feel that it is important for staff to share all relevant information with the childs parents and for the parents to do likewise with the staff.

For the partnership to be successfull, the following things need to be considered:-

  • Staff listen to parents concerning thier childs development.
  • The staff are always available for parents to speak to if required.
  • Parents are made to feel valued and thier opinions are taken into account.
  • The nursery keeps parents informed of thier children's development in a variety of different ways.
  • Parents help to back up nursery activities at home, for example, reading, counting and colours etc.
  • As the partnership is two way, it is important that parents inform us of any changes in circumstance at home that might unsettle or worry thier child.

When a child starts at Wollaton House Day Nursery, an initial visit is made by the parents. The child will then make two visits. For the first visit the parents stay with the child and discuss any relevant information with the staff who will be caring for the child. On the second visit the child is left in the care of the nursery staff for a short period.

The nursery also holds open evenings from time to time where parents and staff can meet informally and exchange ideas and information.
